Interesting article. But when I post it to Facebook, the thumbnail reads: http://prntscr.com/9ung6. Although the title is clearly: http://prntscr.com/9ungn on the NYT website.
Seems fishy because the NYT.com article paints a darker portrait of Obama's "leadership" than the Facebook thumbnail suggests.
And true leadership doesn't involve circumventing the Constitution to kill American citizens living abroad, nor killing innocent Pakistani civilians, all in an attempt to downsize al-Qaeda. The downside of giving one man too much power is that power is easily misused and/or abused. C'mon Democrats! What happened to your civil liberties and anti-war platforms?
True leadership would be bringing the troops home, closing our foreign military bases--and using our Navy to fill protect our global interests--and lastly, using the savings from the two aforementioned activities to boost our actual defense spending here at home (e.g. more domestic bases, more infrastructure, more domestic troops). We need more defense, not more offense. The latter has been the (belligerent) strategy pursued since 9/11, and it arguably creates future terrorists. Minding our own business, investing in a true defense and freeing up trade are the tried and true methods of expanding global peace and prosperity.
